Wat Saket and The Golden Mount

History of The Construction of Golden Mount The Building of the Golden Mount was begun during the reign of King Phra Nangklaochaoyuhua King Rama III.
He put Phraya Sri phiphatratanarajakasa in charge of the construction and given the new name to the pagoda as Golden Mount. The area around the Golden Mount was soft and could not bear the weight of the structure therefore, the construction work was abandoned. The construction was continued during the reign of King Rama IV. He himself laid the foundation stone for the renovation in
the 6 th Month of 2408 B.E. and order the pagoda's name to be changed to the Royal Mount. The further construction was complete in the reign of King Rama V. According to the history it took three reigns to be completed. It has been the property for Thai Kingdom, the Buddhist and world.
