Wat Benchamabopitr Dusitvanaram (The Marble Temple)
This is old temple to the Ayutthaya period, and was previously known as Wat Laem or Wat Saithong. In 1827, King Rama II'S Son Prince Phiphit Phokha Phuben Sat His Troop to Defense Laos Troop of Prince Anuwong at this site. After the war, he restored the temple and Built Five Chedis (Pagoda) in front of the temple in King Rama IV'S Reign, The name was changed to Benchamabopitr meaning the temple of Five Princes.
In 1899, King Rama V Built Dusit Palace which covering up to the temple area. The King then ordered to rebuild the temple and Changed Its name to Benchamabopitr Dusitvanaram, meaning the temple of the Fifth King and located nearby Duist Palace. The temple's ubosot was built of marble from Italy. Inside is The Buddha imade by Imitating Phra Phutthachinarat at Phitsanulok Province.
Located on Sriayuthaya Road, this unique marble temple was constructed during the reign of King Rama V. It employs European superb cloister collection of bronze Buddha images.
